Heart of Ghent 10K rings in the fall season to Ghent with a fit, festive, charitable family oriented run/walk through the historic and scenic Ghent neighborhood. With its unique blend of fine restaurants, boutiques, cafes, shopping, professional services, and quiet residential neighborhoods, Norfolk’s Historic Ghent is an ideal location for this great event returning after its successful seventh year. This event is a “don’t miss” race on the regional running calendar.

HEART OF GHENT 10K
Starting at 8:30 AM the 10K course takes in the best of Ghent. Starting on Spotswood Ave next to Blair High School, the course runs through the 21st St corridor, down Llewellyn Ave around Harrison Opera House and through Botetourt Gardens, down Olney past Chrysler Museum into the Neon District with great muraled walls, up Brambleton Ave and down the famous Colley Ave corridor in the heart of Ghent. The race finishes back at Blair Middle School for a great post-race party.
BANDS ON THE RUN
Five bands will be playing at party zones along the course to keep runners energized and spectators entertained.
Bands will be announced in the weeks leading up to the event.
GREAT POST RACE PARTY
A post race party will be held in the parking lot beside Blair Middle School. Food will be provided by Jessy’s Taco Bistro and YNot Pizza and locally crafted beer from local brewing companies will be on tap. There will also be live music by the band Milk Crate Mafia. The party continues all day throughout Ghent. Many restaurants and businesses will be offering specials throughout the day.
